New Song -- "Shining Blue Eyes!"

The final version of my new song "Shining Blue Eyes" is now out, and you can hear it at chrishuskey.com or below!  This has been a work in progress since this spring -- partly because it's hard to finish a track in California when I'm in Beijing! -- and I'm really happy with the final result.  2 more new tracks and an acoustic cover are on the way; each at different stages of recording, but hopefully all three will be ready soon -- I'll let you know!

In the meantime, enjoy Shining Blue Eyes, and feel free to download it from my Facebook page!

Not-Super-Blurry (HD?) Version of Do You Remember? Music Video

I realized the other day how ridiculously blurry the original video for "Do You Remember?" is -- from back in the day when everything on YouTube was blurry as hell -- so I just uploaded the higher quality version.  Don't know who will be watching the video anytime soon, but it looks about 10x sexier . . .

Mid-May Update -- Demos

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to update you on what's going on with the upcoming demos, songwriting, etc. I said in my last video that I was starting to record demos of Shining Blue Eyes, Midnight Melodies, and Sunday that weekend, and I've been working on them over the past few weeks with the help and awesome engineering of my friend Peter Livesey. Tomorrow we start w/ vocals, which we'll record at random intervals over next week (we have to go to classes some time . . . ). Drums, guitar, and bass are done unless some small fixes are needed, and we're adding some banjo tomorrow and maybe a little fiddle next week.

So basically we're within a few weeks of finishing these three demos, and I'll hopefully be posting them within the next month. We recorded them in the campus studio, but they're definitely sounding much better than I expected -- nothing like home demos, for sure. I'll let you know when they're ready!

I've also been writing and reworking songs, so I'll try to keep posting videos so you guys can see what I'm working on and have some (sweet jams?) to listen to. Speaking of sweet jams, Travis McCoy (lead singer of Gym Class Heroes) just released the best song for summer -- "We'll Be Alright."

Thanks for listening -- I love you all.

Another One! Shining Blue Eyes (Acoustic Video)

Told you more updates would be coming soon! I just recorded this acoustic video of my new song "Shining Blue Eyes" so you guys can see what I've been working on. It's also on my YouTube and Vimeo channels.

Also, I just started recording demos of this song, Midnight Melodies, and a third new song called "Sunday" at the Stanford studio last weekend, and I'm looking forward to letting you hear those when they're finished. So expect some new demos soon and some new acoustic videos in the next few weeks as well!

Cheers,
Chris

New Song -- Acoustic Video of "Midnight Melodies"

Hey everyone --

I just recorded an acoustic video version of my new song "Midnight Melodies" so you guys can see what I've been up to. Sorry for the lack of updates recently, but I'm hoping to post some more new demos and/or video updates soon. I'll actually be in the campus studio tomorrow to start recording three demos of new songs -- one of which is Midnight Melodies. So check back soon for more songs!

In the meantime, enjoy the new video update!

Thanks for listening,
Chris

August Update/Twitter/Awesome Song

Before I get to the blog post: follow me on twitter or tell me something cool @chrishuskey!

Alright. It's definitely way past time for an update, so:

Some good news and some bad news in terms of music. Good news -- I've been writing songs like mad this summer (I'm living/working in SF, and it's pretty inspiring), and I'm pretty happy with a good number of them. Also, I'm getting involved at the studios at Stanford, so this year I'll be hopefully be able to record up there some (more updates on this soon).

The bad news is actually not that bad -- my guitar is broken from when it fell off my shoulder (a.k.a. I dropped it) while I was running to catch a train to a show. So it doesn't sound good at all when I record. I'm working this summer and saving up for a new guitar, so as soon as that gets worked out (hopefully in the next month or so!) I'll be able to record demos and post video updates on YouTube. In the meantime, I'm getting these new songs ready for their debut.

On another note: I'm going to start posting what I'm listening to each blog post like they have you do on MySpace. I saw this band Barcelona a few days ago and I'm obsessed with their music now -- this aquarium video on YouTube is getting them a lot of recognition and is especially sexcellent.

My next post will be shorter, I promise!

New MySpace!@#$!

I just spent way too much time making my MySpace look sexy . . .
New MySpace

I've got finals coming up (starting Saturday), but I'm hoping to record a song or two before I leave campus for summer. I've got nine new songs and two revamped old ones to finish over summer, so expect a bunch of demos and a new album/EP sometime in early to mid-2010. Thanks for listening.

Here's some awesome music from Chris Ayer (I've been listening to his stuff a lot lately)
